Train in the Australian Defence Force’s close-combat program developed by Paul Cale – tailored for everyday self-protection.

The Personal Combatives courses in the Kinetic Fighting–Integrated Combat (KEF-IC) syllabus use the same principles and core techniques as the Australian Army Combatives Program (ACP). Whether you want to learn mental strategies and tactical applications to make your existing martial arts skills more effective, or you need to build effective self-protection skills from the ground up, this course is for you. Suitable for civilians & front-line operators, from beginners to professionals.

A veteran of multiple combat tours with the 2nd Commando Regiment, former Sergeant Paul Cale literally rewrote the book on Special Forces Close-Quarter Fighting (CQF). He then created Infantry Integrated Combat (ICC), which later became the foundation for ACP — now the official close-combat training system for Australia & New Zealand’s Defence Forces. Kinetic Fighting is the culmination of all Cale’s work in combatives, and the name used to describe the method underpinning his military programs.

On successful completion of each module, participants get to keep their training booklet and receive a KEF–IC certificate and level patch. Participants who complete all five Personal Combatives (Tan Belt) modules will also be eligible for grading qualification for Grey Belt.

Level Alpha – SELF-PROTECTION ESSENTIALS:

In this Alpha module, you will cover the key aspects of surviving — and preventing — violent confrontation: mindset, tactics, legal and moral considerations, and functional, high-percentage techniques. These essential skills will serve you effectively straight away, and are also the foundation of building upon these in further courses. You will also discover how KEF–IC’s battlefield origins inform everything that you learn, and how to adapt its proven principles to your own abilities and existing skill-sets (if applicable).

Prerequisites: None – complete beginners welcome

Level Bravo – SURVIVABILITY BLUEPRINT:

Building upon Level Alpha training module with four hours of expanding tactics, skill integration, and drills to help you develop your ACP/KEF–IC skills into an effective arsenal.

In this Bravo module you will be introduced to principles of adaptation and shown how free play and sparring/rolling can enhance tactical capability. Learn grappling skills applicable to the battlefield, and competitive drills where the objectives support tactical aims and develop your combative skill sets. This session provides the framework for your ongoing refinement and development of all the self-protection skills and strategies learned.

Prerequisites: Level Alpha

Level Charlie – Weapon Survival Essentials:

In this Charlie module, you will discover not only the essential components of surviving an armed attack, but how to understand and mitigate the real effects of combat stress.
A mix of theory and practice, these lessons will also help you hone the fundamental skill sets learned in Alpha & Bravo (if you’ve done it), or build them from scratch. You’ll also learn how to integrate Kinetic Fighting’s core principles and survival strategies into your thinking.

Prerequisites: None

Level Delta – Weapon Response Framework:

In this course Delta module, we will take you through a series of drills and scenarios designed to heighten your awareness and quickly develop your ability to respond to bladed and blunt weapons. In four hours, building upon some of the weapon defensive skills in Charlie module, you will grow your arsenal of effective counter options, grappling, and various takedowns. Including expanding your understanding of controlling, and wall domination when it comes to weapon threats and attacks.

Prerequisites: Level Charlie

Level Echo – Combat Grappling:

In this course Echo module, we will teach you how to out-grapple an opponent when lives are at stake, rather than competition points. In four hours, you will learn vital strategies and skills to survive life-threatening situations where you end up on the ground, and/or the assailant attempts to grab, control, or access weapons. You will also drill ground-fighting responses and how to grapple and regain control when weapons are, or could be, in use.

Prerequisites: None
