Training & Participation Policy

Welcome! Here are our FAQ & Training Policies so that you may have a seamless start to your training!

What to Bring & Wear
Members should bring a water bottle, small towel & wear suitable clothing for physical training. All jewellery must be removed prior to training to prevent damage to items or other people, and students should keep shorter fingernails. Personal hygiene is required such as deodorant and a change of shirt is advised for summer months. Eye glasses maybe worn, however sport-safe types are encouraged, or students may remove them for some techniques. Training T-Shirts are available for purchase and should be acquired by time of their grading if you wish to grade.

Shoes
Students typically wear shoes when training, however you may train bare feet as well. Flat-soled shoes are advised for your safety rather than shoes with strong grips. Shoes dedicated for training on mats are preferred, however, whatever shoes you do wear to train in MUST be CLEAN.

Protective Equipment
Students must provide their own protective equipment, and from starting out training students are urged to obtain a Mouth Guard and Groin Guard protection. Additional safety items may be worn at any time, but are mandatory to be able to participate in certain classes or specific tasks and drills. Additional protection can include Grappling Gloves, Shin Guards, Head Guard, etc. Students can purchase these discounted items from Primal Krav Maga or on their own. It is best to speak with your Instructor as to what protection is requirement and to what type before purchasing.

Attendance Policy
Students must sign-in before every session commences. Please arrive at least 10 mins before so you can prepare yourself for the class. Classes are closed 20 minutes after start of Level-class, so if you are running a little late you still can participate and jump in class after doing a quick warm-up.
Students must have acquired a minimum number of training hours before eligible to grade – Private Training & Review sessions are available to make up time.

Training & Partner Working
Each practitioner needs to be aware that each student has different physical attributes & abilities such as height, weight, strength, injuries & experience. Students must be aware and need to train to these conditions. Full power strikes must only be used when partner is holding a suitable pad, and only when the pad holder is of suitable attributes to take the impact; otherwise students are to control their power & speed to be suitable and not to injure other participants. Students must also work to their own abilities or limitation so as to not create further hazards or injuries to themselves or others.

Health & Hazards
Students are to report to the instructor all potential or actual hazards in regards to the environment or training equipment that is faulty. Students must also advise of any medical conditions such as sickness, injuries (recent or chronic) pregnancy or any other health concerns, and in appropriate cases a medical certificate clearing the individual for participation in martial arts and physical exertion. If you are sick on training day it is best to stay at home so as not to pass on to other students. Training Passes can be extended with a doctor’s certificate.

Behaviour
Our training is accommodating for an inclusive and safe training environment for all practitioners. All egos, bad manners, discrimination or disrespect will be checked at the door or refused training. Feel free to socialise and network, our students come from various different backgrounds and professions. We are all here to learn a life skill and a life-saving skill but at the same time to do it in a supportive & enjoyable atmosphere.
